Babelsberg: Berlin’s historic film studio must be preserved
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz considers it necessary to keep it Film studio Babelsberg. Scholz stressed the site’s importance as a world-famous filming location, a place “with worldwide charisma that has welcomed world-famous stars”.

For this reason, Chancellor Scholz is fighting to maintain Babelsberg’s traditional position in Germany and Europe. “So it is right to think about film financing structures in Germany. Far-reaching decisions for the future will be made next year at the latest,” Scholz explained.
Complaints from the Ministry of Economy of the state of Brandenburg
The Ministry of Economy of Brandenburg currently considers the situation with orders from the film company Babelsberg “not ideal”. But Chancellor Scholz reaffirms his firm position, saying: “Whoever sees how many forces have gathered here also understands that this place needs to be protected,” and adds: “If something is stuck, it will be difficult to restore.”
