Charlize Theron will no longer gain weight for movie roles

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has said she will no longer put on weight to play her characters in movies. She has already undergone significant physical changes for roles such as “Monster” and “Tally”, but now she is finding it difficult to lose weight.

Charlize Theron gave up physical appearances for movie roles

Charlize, 48, told Allure: “I’m never going to act in a movie again saying, ‘Yes, I’m going to gain 90 pounds.’ I’ll never do it again because you can’t take it off. When I was 27, I made Monster. I lost 10 pounds overnight. I skipped three meals and returned to my normal weight.”

The actress explained that losing weight becomes more difficult as she ages, especially after she gained 15 pounds for her role in the 2018 film Tully, in which she played a tormented mother of three.

She said: “Then I turned 43 at Tully and I remember after a year of trying to lose weight, I called my doctor and said, ‘I think I’m going to die because I can’t lose this weight.’ ‘. And he said to me, “You’re over 40.” Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it used to be. Nobody wants to hear it.”

Charlize has also revealed in the past that she has dealt with “depression” while playing characters in her films and gaining weight for Tully. Her experience made her realize the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with her body and fitness.
