A video showing footballer Cristiano Ronaldo claiming support for Palestinian children is going viral, claiming it was filmed recently.

But this is wrong: The video, from 2016, shows Ronaldo offering support to children affected by the war in Syria.

How do we know the truth? : We performed a reverse image search on some keyframes from the viral video and discovered the same video shared by Ronaldo on his official Instagram account.

  • The video was shared on December 23, 2016, with the title “A message of hope for children affected by the conflict in Syria.”

  • In the video, he clearly said: “Hello everyone, this is for the children of Syria.”

  • He continued: “We know you are suffering a lot. I am a very famous player, but you are the real heroes. Don’t lose hope, the world is with you. We care about you. I am with you.” “

  • In 2016, he also shared the same video on his official Facebook account, X (formerly Twitter) account.

  • Additionally, we found no news reports of Ronaldo making any pro-Palestinian remarks.
