Childhood vaccination campaign continues in Central – Breaking News

The Ministry of Health, through the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI), has started an awareness and community engagement campaign in priority areas in the central sector to increase vaccination coverage in the country.

So volunteers go door-to-door in communities such as Fernando de la Mora, Luque and San Lorenzo to provide reliable information and break myths about the vaccine that often prevent families and their children from getting vaccinated at vaccination centres. Salud said the goal of the stepped-up vaccination campaign is to communicate effectively with parents or caregivers and community members who may have different attitudes toward vaccines or the health system in general.

The tasks are also designed to encourage parents or carers to ask questions and provide clear and appropriate answers to these questions about the vaccination system.

Likewise, the health department said that in addition to enabling community engagement and communication campaigns about vaccination, the aim is to dispel rumors, concerns or misconceptions.

They note in the PAI that understanding families’ experiences with immunization services is key to empathizing with the child’s parents or guardians.

EPI insists that childhood immunization is one of the most effective health interventions available, as it helps save up to 3 million lives every year, prevents unnecessary suffering, and saves time and money.

In the sense that more and more vaccines protect children from harmful diseases, immunization has eliminated smallpox, nearly eliminated polio, and reduced deaths from measles by 78%.

According to EPI, despite huge progress, almost one in 10 babies in the world has not received any vaccinations in recent years.

In Paraguay, despite well-implemented policies, funding, resources and services, many children are still not receiving all the doses they need.

Although many parents or caregivers receive childhood immunizations, dropout rates are high and there is some resistance.
