This weekend, Chris Brown is set to debut his second 3D printed “Nami” slide.
According to The Auracles, the creative agency founded by Brown and fashion entrepreneur John Dean, the latest addition is the Nami 2.0 slides, available in a Deep Sea Black colorway and set to release in September. thirty.
Designed in collaboration with Nos Ailes, a New Jersey-based footwear design studio, the Grammy Award winner’s latest sneaker is made from a unique blend of EVA foam known as Nami Wave Foam that molds to the shape of the wearer’s foot. This style features architectural 3D lugs along the entire foot, as well as a wavy imprint on the insole and an embossed Nami sign on the outsole of the shoe.
“We are wavy! Literally and figuratively,” Dean told FN. “Slides represent a wave that many young creatives are creating but not profiting or benefiting from.”
The environment was also taken into account when creating the slides. Nami 2.0 is completely biodegradable at the right humidity and temperature. This slide will degrade in three years or less under certain circumstances, Dean noted.
“Our goal is to create something that is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also something that will reduce our global impact,” Dean said. “With this Nami release, we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to premium design and practical fashion.”
When asked why they decided to use the 3D printing method to produce the slides, Dean said that he truly believes that 3D printing is the future of footwear. “Less waste, no upfront costs,” he said. “This allows young designers like us to rip up designs without having to buy molds and materials. It’s also a way for smaller designers to get involved in the industry typical of large corporations.”
Brown and Dean introduced the first Nami slides in May with the help of 3D shoe printing company Zellerfeld. Although the duo no longer works with Zellerfeld, Dean admitted that their first release sold out in three hours and was, at the time, the largest launch in the 3D printed shoe company’s history.
“The response to our first release was overwhelming,” Dean said. “We knew Nami’s slide had a lot of potential, but we didn’t know it would be this big.”
Retailing for $95, Nami’s latest coaster will be available exclusively on Theauracles.xyz in September. 30 at 9am Pacific Time.
