American actress and Oscar winner Jessica Chastain will receive the highest award at the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF). The 46-year-old actress will be presented with the Golden Icon Award on October 1 as a tribute to her career.

The organizers announced this in the evening. The actress has been called an “exceptional Hollywood talent.”

Throughout his career, he has worked with great directors such as Christopher Nolan, Terrence Malick, Kathryn Bigelow, Aaron Sorkin and Guillermo del Toro. In 2022, Chastain won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Michael Showalter’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

Chastain is “one of the best actresses of her generation. He is excellent at choosing roles and knows how to add depth to his characters,” says Christian Jungen, artistic director of ZFF, quoted in the note.

In Zurich, the Californian actress, together with director Michel Franco and co-star Peter Sarsgaard, will present the new film “Memento”, in which she starred.

It’s a “deep romantic drama” in which Chastain plays Sylvia, a social worker in New York who lives a simple and structured life between her daughter, work and meetings with Alcoholics Anonymous. Until his former classmate Saul, played by Sarsgaard, who received the award for best actor at the Venice Film Festival for this role, comes into his life and upsets her.

Previous recipients of the Golden Icon Award include other Hollywood heavyweights such as Juliette Binoche, Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Sean Penn, Sharon Stone and, last year, Sir Ben Kingsley.
