Senigallia, 05/09/2023 – Tuesday, September 12 at 12.00 all cell phones connected to mobile phones in the Marche region (as well as in Campania and Friuli Venezia Giulia) will ring at the same time and with a different sound than normal notifications.
IT-alert, the new national public signaling system, arrives in the Marche region with a test message that, once fully operational, can be activated to inform citizens directly in the event of imminent or ongoing serious emergencies.
Whoever receives the test message has nothing to fear and will not have to do anything other than read the message itself. Everyone, regardless of whether they received the message correctly or not, is invited to go to the site: www.it-alert.it and fill out a questionnaire: the answers received will allow us to improve the system.
After the completion of this first phase in 2024, the IT alert will become operational throughout the country and will be activated in six cases under the responsibility of the National Civil Protection Service: tsunami (caused by an earthquake), collapse of a large dam. , volcanic activity (in the case of volcanoes Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei, Vulcano and Stromboli), nuclear accidents or radiological emergencies, major industrial accidents, heavy rains. Tuscany, Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria and Emilia-Romagna have already taken part in experiments with regional tests.
Any mobile device connected to the telephone operator’s networks can receive the “IT Alert” message.
You don’t need to register or download any apps..
The service is anonymous and free for users..
Using cell broadcast technology, IT alert messages can be sent to a group of telephone cells that are geographically adjacent, limiting the area as close as possible to the area affected by the emergency.
Of course there are gods technological limitations: a message addressed to a certain area may also reach users outside the same area or in uncovered areas; it may happen that the message is not delivered. The ability to receive messages will also depend on the device and version of the operating system installed on the mobile phone: tests will be used to check for any critical issues to optimize the system.
