Carlos Brito Gomez, the former mayor of Coatzacoalcos, died of pneumonia on Monday, unable to recover in a private hospital in Xalapa.
His remains will be buried in the state capital, where the PRI politician also departed because he was a local MP as well as a federal MP.
Carlos Brito, a native of Agua Dulce Tonalá, replaced Don Juan Osorio López from 1988 to 1991 Juan Osorio López later ruled Coatzacoalcos.
Carlos Brito Gómez was also Deputy Minister of the State Government of Veracruz and former leader of the state’s Institutional Revolutionary Party.

His daughter Noemi Gomez confirmed his father’s death in an obituary posted on social networks.
