The Web3 Foundation is a Swiss-based organization and is chaired by Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and current founder of Polkadot and Kusama. Wood coined the term Web3 to describe a new decentralized Internet.
Polkadot is a next-generation blockchain that allows agility and dynamism in the decentralized network, something that allows the creation of new business models for various industries.
The Web3 Foundation prepares the technical protocols to evolve from the current Internet, a centralized and monitored communication network, to a completely decentralized environment
Bertrand Pérez has become the new Operations Director of Fundación Web3, the non-profit organization that develops technological protocols for the next phase of the Internet, aims at new decentralized models and the personalization of the user experience, safeguarding personal data.
The new director of Fundación Web3, of Spanish origin, assumes this new strategic position as an evolution of the Web2 current stage of the Internet with interaction and social networks as the main flag to Web3. Until this past summer, Bertrand Pérez held a position of responsibility in Libra, now Diem, a blockchain project belonging to Facebook, specifically as Director of Operations. This incorporation brings with it the experience of Bertrand Pérez in the payments division and its main mission is to walk towards Web3.
Pérez held different positions at Diem, both Director of Operations and Managing Director of the Libra / Diem Association, which he created from scratch. Prior to this time at Diem, he was a senior director at PayPal for nearly eight years. In total, he has accumulated almost 30 years occupying different technological roles in the sector.
Polkadot, the internet revolution we know
Bertrand Pérez thus joins a team of engineers, academics and different professional profiles who, for some time, have been working to achieve the new Internet revolution that we know, the achievement of Web3. Decentralization is not easy and requires a rather complex technological implementation through blockchain, however, the purpose is to return to the origin of the Internet, which is none other than the open protocol, the principle for which it was envisioned.
In this sense, the fundamental actor on which the gear turns to achieve this milestone is none other than Polkadot, a blockchain platform that is built to connect private and consortium chains, public networks and future technologies that are not yet available.
they have created. It is the only platform that allows an interconnection with others such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc., with the aim of exchanging information and transactions reliably. Currently, these blockchains work completely independently, as well as their different cryptocurrencies.
Polkadot is the first project of Fundación Web3, a Swiss foundation created to facilitate a fully functional and easy-to-use decentralized website. Polkadot is built to connect private and consortium chains, public and permissionless networks, oracles, and future technologies that have yet to be created. The project facilitates an internet where independent blockchains can exchange information and transactions reliably through the Polkadot relay chain.
About Web3 Foundation
The Web3 Foundation is a Swiss foundation created to facilitate a fully functional and easy-to-use decentralized website. Web3 has partnered with the best institutions in its industry to build Polkadot and foster the development of the services and applications that will run on it, providing grants for ecosystem development. Researchers from Inria Paris and ETH Zurich, developers from Parity Technologies, and crypto fund equity partners such as Polychain Capital are working together to develop the exceptional performance of Web3, with Polkadot at its core.
