Cristiano Ronaldo entered the media industry through the investment group Expressão Livre to which he belongs, acquiring companies that manage well-known Portuguese media such as Correio da Manhã, Record and Jornal de Negócios.

Specifically, Expressão Livre acquired Cofina Media, a subsidiary of the Cofina Group that manages these media.

In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Cofina Group reported that it had terminated its relationship with the subsidiary following the transfer of ownership of Cofina Media shares to the investor group.

Expressão Livre is made up of several investors, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a history of friction with Cofina Media but expressed interest in joining its management in the middle of this year.

On October 26, the media consortium’s shareholders approved the sale of all shares in Cofina Media to Expressão Livre, which, according to Jornal de Negócios, offered 56.8 million euros for the shares.

The history of friction between the 38-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo and the Correio da Manhã TV channel goes back many years and has even gone to court.
