Cristiano Ronaldo’s brother celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with a grand ceremony in Madeira.
In a church in Funchal, Hugo Aveiro and his wife Rubina relive the vowel renewal of their wedding day.
Rubina made a stunning appearance in a plunging sweetheart neckline mermaid gown, while Hugo, who runs the Rolando Museum on the Portuguese island, looked dapper in a gray suit.
The couple were joined by Ronaldo’s sisters Elma and Katia and their mother Maria, as well as Hugo and Rubina’s children Alicia Beatrice Aveiro, 23, and their youngest son, Hugo Thomas.
Niecees and nephews also attended the ceremony, but Ronaldo, his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his five children remained at home in Saudi Arabia, where the star forward plays.
Despite not attending the ceremony, Ronaldo sent a video message to wish his brother and sister-in-law congratulations. He scored his 400th goal as a 30-year-old in Al Nasr’s 2-0 win on Sunday.
Cristiano’s sister Elma, an internet celebrity herself with 677,000 followers, shared many photos from the event.
The influencer looked stunning in a purple floor-length gown with a plunging neckline and a £3,400 Valentino bag.
Her daughter Eleonor, 18, chose a burgundy backless silk dress with metallic straps.
Meanwhile, Katia, 46, looked stunning in another floor-length green outfit.
The singer, who performs in Portugal under the stage name Ronalda, paired the emerald gown with a classic gold chain and heels.
Their mother, Maria Dolores, completed the colorful lineup in a Barbie pink jumpsuit.
‘My heart can’t take it anymore. “My family, my people, love above all else,” Irma wrote in a sweet post on Instagram.
Despite living a jet-setting lifestyle, playing football in Manchester, Madrid and now Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo remains close to his siblings, who still live in Madria, Portugal.
He helped Hugo battle alcohol and drug abuse, including paying for rehab.
“There is no doubt that his money saved Hugo,” their mother Dolores was quoted as saying in the Daily Chronicle in 2007. “Had Cristiano not been a footballer, things could have been very different.”
Hugo now works as manager of the Ronaldo Museum in Madeira.
Ronaldo’s family has a history of drug abuse. When he was 20, he lost his father, Dinis.
“Cristiano has seen what alcohol and drugs can do to bring people closer to him, and that’s part of the reason why he’s the person he is today,” Dolores said.
“What happened in our family explains why Cristiano has no bad habits. He doesn’t smoke or drink. His addiction is football.
Dinis got drunk early, leaving Cristiano devastated. Cristiano is very close to his father.
