Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has transformed his Pestana CR7 hotel in Marrakech into a refuge for victims of Morocco’s recent devastating earthquake.
After the 6.8-magnitude earthquake, buildings and city walls collapsed, leaving hundreds of people homeless. Ronaldo decided to give them shelter in his four-star hotel.
Irene Seixas, a Spanish tourist at the scene, confirmed in an interview with the RTVE channel that the hotel opened its doors to the victims who spent Friday night and early Saturday morning in the streets after the disaster.
Provide luxury shelter to victims
Pestana CR7 Marrakech opens in early 2022 and is located outside the center of Marrakech. The hotel is part of the Ronaldo Residences chain, which has operations in cities including Madrid, New York, Lisbon, Funchal and Manchester.
The hotel has 174 luxurious rooms, decorated with a blend of traditional Arabic elements and Portuguese culture. As well as accommodation, it has two bars, a restaurant and various event spaces, reports AS.
