Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence helps Scottish singer top Saudi Arabian music charts

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald may have Cristiano Ronaldo to thank for her hit “This is the Life” which is soaring back up the charts 16 years after it was first released in 2007 .

Ronaldo has played prolifically in the Saudi Professional League and his goals continue to go viral on TikTok. Macdonald’s hit song “This is the Life” is often played over the bat.

She told the Restless Natives podcast: “I started noticing a lot of comments in Arabic on social media. I thought ‘it looks cute but I don’t know what it says’ and there’s more and there’s more .

“Someone looked into it and there seemed to be a lot of videos on social media using ‘This Is Life’, like Ronaldo playing football in Saudi Arabia. I told a friend of mine about it and they sent me a Jordan Photo of Henderson wearing an Amy MacDonald T-shirt.”

Macdonald’s hit song currently has over 380 million streams on Spotify and is number one on the Saudi charts.

MacDonald is no stranger to football, as she is married to former Rangers defender Richard Forster.
