I don’t know if I saw the full extent of what I was doing (Denis Villeneuve) during filming. I think when I saw it and was so caught up in the stranglehold of the film, I didn’t realize how much you would feel like being a character if you were an audience. I did not understand that she was going to drag you in like that and that she also avoided the public. It’s a rambling world where one is in situations that are too big for oneself, and the panic it instills in viewers watching it is so interesting, and how tense and muscular is the overall emotion while watching it. And it’s beautiful to watch thanks to Roger Deakins, really innovative. So, I understand why this movie has such an impact on people, but I had the same thing with Oppenheimer. I was absolutely amazed when I saw this, it felt like my bones would break, I had no idea that he would move so tight and internally, it was just extraordinary.
