Havana, November 24 – Cuba’s Finlay Vaccine Institute and the Vietnamese company Vabiotech reached an agreement today in the capital to strengthen ties in the field of biotechnology.
“A delegation led by Nguyen Anh Tuan, director of the Vietnamese company Vabiotech, visited @FinlayInstituto. The parties discussed joint cooperation and future projects. The Vietnamese representatives received an update on the work of the institution,” the Caribbean entity said on social network X (formerly (for Twitter).
“During the exchange between @FinlayInstituto and the Vietnamese company Vabiotech, the desire to continue expanding cooperative ties between the two biotech institutions was expressed,” the text emphasizes.
Vabiotech is one of Vietnam’s leading companies engaged in the production, marketing, research and development of various vaccines, diagnostic kits, biological, therapeutic and pharmaceutical products; cosmetics, food, in addition to providing health services.
Currently, Vabiotech produces four vaccines: hepatitis B, hepatitis A, Japanese encephalitis and oral cholera, and imports immunogens against mumps, rubella, meningococcus and chickenpox.
Cuba’s Finley Vaccine Institute has glycoconjugates, synthetics, combinations, therapeutics and infectious disease injectables.
The effectiveness of these products in controlling epidemics, such as the 1989 epidemic caused by Neisseria meningitidis in Cuba, was eradicated through VA-MENGOC-BC.
Trivalent anti-leptospiral vaccines have also been obtained from inactivated cells of Leptospira interrogans (Canicola canicola, Pomona mozdok and Icterohaemorrhagiae copenhageni serotypes) to combat leptospirosis outbreaks, among others to a large extent.
