Daniel Radcliffe’s comment that surprised Harry Potter fans

Some stories, we know, have the power to change the world. And in doing so they can only turn the lives of anyone directly involved upside down. This is the case with Daniel Radcliffethe London actor who became famous for the role of Harry Potter in the film saga of the same name.

The interpreter was chosen as the face of the boy wizard more than 22 years ago, a decision communicated to the world in August 2000, during the famous press conference which revealed the identities of the actors who would embody the trio made up of Harry, Ron and Hermione. At the time Daniel Radcliffe was only 10 years old, and therefore in his short career he could boast very little experience and few roles that could help him best step into the shoes of the unforgettable magician.

Feature films based on the literary saga of JK Rowlingwhich just like the novels have rarely equaled global success, have earned Radcliffe a reputation that since the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone it was virtually impossible to extinguish.

But what idea will the beloved actor have of the role to which he owes everything? Interviewed by Empire, Radcliffe said he had a hard time separating the experience that shaped him as a professional, from the perception of his acting at the time, which he even went so far as to describe as “embarrassing”

“It’s hard to separate my relationship with Harry from my relationship with the movies as a whole. (…) I am enormously grateful for that experience: it showed me what I want to do with the rest of my life. It’s fortunate to soon discover what you love to do. I am deeply embarrassed about my actingbut it’s like asking, “How do you see yourself in your teens?” There’s so much going on during that time that it’s almost impossible to isolate a single sensation.”

The actor, we recall, in 2022 also took part in the television special Return to Hogwartsbroadcast on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter saga.

The memorable reunion was also attended by Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart.
