Paramount+ released the first trailer From Legalistsnew super-prolific anthology series Taylor Sheridan (they are his too Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, 1923 AND Special Operation: Lioness), whose first season explores the legendary figure of the American marksman Bas Reevesthe first black marshal west of the Mississippi River, was nominated for two Emmy Awards. Lawmen Story: Bass Reeves
Broadcast this fall Lawmen: Bass Reeves 8 episodes tell the story of a real-life former slave who became one of the greatest heroes of the American frontier. Working in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, Bass Reeves caught more than 3,000 of the world’s most dangerous criminals without ever being injured.
Acting together with Oyelovo Dennis Quaid (Durability) as Cheryl Lynn, a federal agent who recruits Reeves, Lauren E. Banks (City on a Hill) the latter’s wife, Jenny, and Donald Sutherland (Cancel) as Isaac Parker, an imposing Fort Smith court judge with a checkered past. Added to them Demi Singleton (Godfather of Harlem), Forrest Goodluck (Republic of Sary), Barry Pepper (Green Mile), Shea Whigham (Perry Mason) AND Garrett Hedlund (Tulsa King), among many others.
Before Lowman, David Oyelowo didn’t know Bass Reeves.
Despite the fact that I am a fan of Westerns, in an interview Vanity Fair released before the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, David Oyelowo admitted that he was initially unfamiliar with the Bass Reeves story. “I had no idea who he was,” he said. “Thanks to very specific research GoogleI couldn’t believe that I didn’t know who he was and that there weren’t many TV shows and movies made about him yet, considering how legendary he was for what he did. That was the beginning of an obsession with trying to make it happen.”
