Davon Ham says LeBron James looks like a younger version of himself

While many are optimistic and excited about the Los Angeles Lakers’ chances to win another NBA championship this season, there’s been one big problem with LeBron James. In other words, has he fully recovered from the injury to his right foot last season? Can he regain his previous speed and explosiveness?

He missed about four weeks with an injury in late February and March and played reasonably well when he returned, but his explosiveness was clearly limited, especially in open court situations. James said at media day that he has worked hard to get his right foot back to its pre-injury shape, but the evidence will show in current basketball activities.

With training camp now in full swing, head coach Davon Hamm said James has not only regained his explosiveness but “looks like a third- or fourth-year LeBron.”

Ham noted that James is now smart and judicious enough to position himself in a way that allows him to retain his explosiveness at the right moments, especially with all the offensive help he’s suddenly getting.

As the start of the 2023-24 regular season approaches, this is very good news for the Lakers and their fans.
