Dead and injured due to Israeli bombing in the Al-Faluga area in Jabalia camp

In its land incursion… Israel isolates Gaza City and its north from the rest of the Strip

Today (Thursday), the Israeli army continued its ground incursion into the Gaza Strip, which had lasted for several days, in conjunction with launching intense airstrikes, according to the German Press Agency.

Palestinian sources announced dozens of deaths and injuries in air strikes on various areas of the Gaza Strip, against residential houses, civilian sites and agricultural land.

The sources say the Israeli army, in its ground incursions, has largely isolated Gaza city and its north from the rest of the Strip following Israeli ground operations and related clashes with Palestinian activists and factions.

The Israeli army said its forces continue to fight on the ground in the Gaza Strip and are already surrounding Gaza City on both sides.

The army said that during the night hours, soldiers from the Golani Brigade and armored forces clashed with Palestinian armed groups who fired anti-tank shells at them, detonated explosive devices and threw hand grenades.

He added that his forces killed dozens of Palestinian militants, while fighter planes moved in cooperation with the air force and directed aircraft to attack an anti-tank squad that intended to open fire and was covered by naval fire.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has warned that the isolation of Gaza City and its north threatens to block the delivery of humanitarian aid from the south to some 300,000 internally displaced people in the northern Gaza Strip.

Yesterday, the Gaza Strip witnessed the killing of 280 Palestinians, bringing the death toll to 8,805 since Israeli attacks began on the 7th of last month, two-thirds of whom were children and women, according to the Health Ministry. of Gaza. .

The government press office in Gaza announced that the death toll from the two Israeli “massacres” in the Jabalia camp the day before yesterday (Tuesday) and yesterday (Wednesday) exceeded a thousand people, including dead, wounded and missing.

According to the information office, the number of dead has risen to 195, of which 120 are missing under the rubble and 777 injured following the destruction of two residential squares in the Jabalia camp by Israeli warplanes.

Rescue teams, most of them belonging to the Palestinian Civil Defence, are struggling to carry out their tasks, amid continuous air strikes and a severe shortage of fuel to operate vehicles and equipment.

Thousands were estimated to be trapped under the rubble, while the Palestinian Red Crescent announced it had been forced, due to fuel shortages, to reduce the number of ambulances it uses.

The United Nations estimates there are more than 1.4 million people in Gaza who are internally displaced, with more than 690,400 people sheltering in 149 facilities affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

In recent days, tens of thousands of internally displaced people, previously staying with host families, have moved into public shelters in search of food and basic services, increasing pressure on already overcrowded shelters.

Meanwhile, warnings have increased about the dangers of running out of fuel needed to run electric generators at hospitals in the Gaza Strip, in light of a complete power outage for more than 20 days following Israel’s suspension of supplies. of electricity and fuel in Gaza.

After services were disrupted due to fuel and electricity shortages at the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia was close to running out of fuel, and appealed to the international community and local residents to help provide fuel.

The ministry warned that 42 children in intensive care, 62 injured people using ventilators and 650 patients with kidney failure are most at risk in the event of a power outage.

Currently, 15 of the 35 hospitals that have the capacity to accept inpatients are not operational, as well as two specialized outpatient centers.

All functioning hospitals and clinics are affected by severe fuel shortages, leading to strict rationing and limited use of generators only for essential functions. Furthermore, maintenance and repair of standby generators, originally not intended for continuous operation, have become increasingly difficult due to the shortage of spare parts.
