Delivery of tickets for the Olivia Rodrigo concert will be delayed until 72 hours before the concert – deadline

Ticketmaster’s pre-sale of tickets to verified fans for Olivia Rodrigo’s tour added another complication: tickets had been purchased for her. GUTS the tour will be available no earlier than 72 hours prior to the show date and will only be accessible electronically.

The goal, the company explained, is to reduce the high resale prices of the popular show.

“Artists typically use delivery delays to ensure the sale is thoroughly vetted and to ensure that all buyers comply with ticket sales restrictions and conditions,” Ticketmaster said in a statement.

Fans had to jump through several hoops to even get tickets. First they had to register as interested. At that time, Ticketmaster’s “Invitations” for the presale were distributed to a limited number of registrants.

This invitation with a verified code was not the last step. Ticketmaster noted that receiving an invitation provided the opportunity to purchase tickets, but the ability to actually purchase those tickets was determined by “supply and demand.”

Demand for tickets far exceeds availability, Ticketmaster added. The show is sold out, but registered fans are on a “waiting list” in case new shows are added.

Ticketmaster was no doubt hoping to avoid the fiasco that occurred earlier this year with Taylor Swift’s ticket sales. In that case, an onslaught of hopeful ticket buyers crashed the retailer’s website, prompting Ticketmaster to halt the pre-sale.

The fiasco sparked lawsuits, congressional hearings and an angry response from Swift herself. “I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked (Ticketmaster) several times if they could handle the demand and we were assured that they could.”

The Guts World Tour kicks off at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. February 23 next year.
