Director Jon M. Chu gave fans an update on the filming status of the movie Wicked, revealing that work on the set was almost complete before the actors’ strike.

We were only a few days away from filming so we were very close! Stopping work was really painful, but we’ll be back! And when the time is right, we’ll do it with the right strength,

The film stars Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Fierro, Ethan Slater as Bok, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, and Michelle Yeoh.

The story told in Wicked takes place several years before Dorothy’s arrival in the kingdom of Oz and follows the friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, who would later become the Good Witch of the West and the Wicked Witch.

Both films will come out at Christmas 2024 and a year later, in 2025, and the screenplay was written by Vinnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, who adapted Gregory Maguire’s novel into a musical.
