Director Jon M. Chu gave fans an update on the filming status of the movie Wicked, revealing that work on the set was almost complete before the actors’ strike.

Answering questions from Wicked fans, the filmmaker revealed:We have not completed the work. We are on a break till the strike is over and then we can complete the last part of the film. We were only a few days away from filming so we were very close! Stopping work was really painful, but we’ll be back! And when the time is right, we’ll do it with the right strength,
John M. Chu said,I express my condolences to our cast and crew, who had to disrupt what we came here together to accomplish. In the meantime, I’m excited to dive into what we’re shooting here in Australia (the release date shouldn’t matter). It’s been an extraordinary adventure… there’s still work to be done,

The film stars Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Fierro, Ethan Slater as Bok, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, and Michelle Yeoh.
The story told in Wicked takes place several years before Dorothy’s arrival in the kingdom of Oz and follows the friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, who would later become the Good Witch of the West and the Wicked Witch.
Both films will come out at Christmas 2024 and a year later, in 2025, and the screenplay was written by Vinnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, who adapted Gregory Maguire’s novel into a musical.
