Disney+ announces the release date of The Haunted Mansion on its platform

Streaming platform Disney+ has finally revealed the release date for The Haunted Mansion. During the famous D23 Expo event dedicated to Disney fans, the highly anticipated horror comedy was announced on Disney+.

The film was inspired by the iconic Disney theme park attraction, but unfortunately did not have the desired success at the box office. However, there is some good news: The Haunted Mansion will be available on Disney+ starting October 4th. This date is surprisingly close to its theatrical debut, which took place on July 28 in the US and August 23 in Italy. The goal is clearly to attract public attention to Halloween. At the moment we cannot confirm whether the film will indeed be available in Italy from October 4, but it is likely that it will be released simultaneously in all countries where Disney+ is available.

The plot of the film is a reinterpretation of the horror comedy of the same name with Eddie Murphy as the main character. It tells the story of single mother Gabby and her son as they move into their dream home at an incredibly affordable price. But they soon discover that the house is inhabited by strange ghosts who wake up every midnight. To avoid being stuck in the mansion forever, Gabby and her son call in a team of experts consisting of a priest, a psychic, a former paranormal investigator and a history professor.

The film features an exceptional cast with names such as Rosario Dawson, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Lakeith Steinfeld, Danny DeVito, Tiffany Hiddish, Chase Dillon, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto, who plays the spirits Madame Leota and Alistair Crump, two beloved characters from the Disneyland attraction.

Disney decided to release the film via streaming on Disney+ with the goal of achieving commercial success similar to other films such as Encanto. It will be interesting to see if The Haunted Mansion manages to capture the Disney+ audience and become a minor horror-comedy cult like Hocus Pocus, which received a sequel some thirty years after its debut. We’ll just have to wait for further updates and get ready for the frighteningly fun adventure on Disney+ on October 4th.
