Sánchez Cerna said endoscopic myotomy is considered the best option for such cases because it is less invasive and safe, with an 85% success rate in recovery and problem resolution.
After surgery, patients can expect to need 48 to 72 hours of recovery time before beginning a gradual diet.
“The procedure involves opening the hypopharyngeal muscles through endoscopic access through the mouth. This allows the diverticulum to be identified and separated with a nasogastric tube, and the septum separating the diverticular sac from the esophagus is cut to its base and then extracted. “
