Drag-On slammed Pitbull after the singer claimed that former Ruff Ryders rapper took an “L” in a fight with him.
On Saturday (September 23), Drag-On (real name Melvin Jason Smalls) took to Instagram to criticize the Miami pop star for claiming that he mopped the floor with him during a rap battle decades ago, which led to his success.
“To @pitbull, I’ve been watching you lie for over 15 years about how you fought me and won (laughing emoji),” he wrote in a lengthy message. “First of all, I was doing a video with DMX (no love for me) and they were begging me to come out so they could listen to you and spit with you.
“I didn’t even want to go out there and I shouldn’t have but I did it, it wasn’t a fight at all and you know it… don’t let that nigga @irvgotti187 pump you up to get smoked. I don’t know why you say you went through me because you are VERY successful.”
He continued: “Now you’ve even added more lies to the story (laughing emoji). I fought real niggas in REAL BARS, so now you have my undivided attention!! – so check this out – if you disrespectfully mention my name one more time, you will be my next PART 47. I have no problem dedicating it to you and @irvgotti187.
“I’m not bothering anyone, but you keep messing with me – why? I know I’m giving some of you rappers a trophy – and before you answer, check out my other freestyle parts and see if you want that smoke. Oh mom, I’ll smoke you a pitbull—and I still like mixing weed.”
The quarrel arose due to a recent episode Golden Minds with Kevin Hart in which Mr. Worldwide revisited rumors that he mopped the floor with Drag-On while freestyling in the late ’90s.
“She said, ‘Hey, you have talent.’ Fast forward to now, she sent me an invitation to shoot a DMX video in ’97 (or) ’98. It’s called ‘Ain’t No Cats Got Love 4 Me’ and it features a cat named Drag-On,” Pitbull began, thanking one of his classmates, Hope Martinez, for going the extra mile.
Pitbull claimed that while filming, one of his friends started talking about his talents to DMX and stated that he could win a rap battle against anyone.
“So I end up fighting Drag-On,” he said. “Swizz Beatz is right here. And Swizz was like, “Dude, I’ll give Drag three rounds.” He will burn you.”
According to Mr. 305, the fight lasted eight rounds.
“Then Drag does a verse from the record called “Down Bottom” with him and Juvenile. The record hasn’t come out yet, but the flow has been crazy. So I was like, “Oh, man. You caught me,” Pitbull recalled. “But his people say, ‘No. You caught him.”
Pitbull claimed that due to the use of previously written rhymes, Drag-On was disqualified, making him the winner. His victory caught the attention of the founder of Murder Inc. Irv Gotti, who encouraged Pete to start writing songs, telling him, “This freestyle shit is great, but it ain’t making no money.”
Neither Pitbull nor Irv Gotti had responded to Drag-On’s Instagram post at the time of publication.
