Drake goes for the crown. The Toronto rapper now ties Michael Jackson with 13 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake’s No. 13 on the chart is “First Person Shooter,” from his latest album. For all dogs. While this feat is monumental for Drake, it also marked J. Cole’s first No. 1 hit on a record.
Drake has always been known for his antics and posted a photoshopped image of Michael Jackson on Instagram. In the photo, the King of Pop is wearing an OVO sweatshirt and taking a selfie in the mirror. He also took to his Instagram Story to correct Billboards’ statement about the record. He wrote that they left out his role in Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE”. However, according to Billboard, the publication knows that “SICKO MODE” is a top charting song. It states that it “was not officially listed on the track,” so it doesn’t count. This also applies to Young Money’s “Every Girl” (peaked No. 10 in 2009) and “Bedrock” (peaked No. 2 in 2010), as they also don’t count toward his career numbers. It’s also worth noting that they share the No. 1 solo record among men, and among women, record holder Mariah Carey has 19 No. 1 singles to date.
