The Meloni government has tightened the conditions for accessing citizenship income, reducing the number of beneficiaries from 1.2 million to 740,000. According to UPB’s report on budget policy, about 33.6% of RDC beneficiaries are out of the nucleus inclusion allowance in the period 2020-2022 as there is no protected subject within them.
About 12% of the remaining nuclei are excluded from advertising due to economic constraints. In total, the number of beneficiaries of the AdI is estimated to be around 740,000, of whom 690,000 are already Rdc beneficiaries and 50,000 new beneficiaries thanks to the revision of the residence constraint. This entails an increase in the total resources assigned to households receiving AdI to the equivalent of 6.1 billion euros with an increase in benefits of approximately 190 million, while former beneficiaries of the Rdc excluded from AdI would suffer a loss of 2.7 billion.
