After completing the world tour and Barbie movie, believe it or not, Dua Lipa is currently on a break. But instead of lounging on the couch or simply taking time off, the singer is still working—mostly on her passion projects. Her podcast At your serviceCurrently in its third season, her website service95.com is more of an intimate conversation between the superstar and her fans in editorial form. Her October book club reading: one hundred years of solitude by Gabriel García Márquez (“irresistible,” she raved in her review). Lipa is undoubtedly a multifaceted, multifaceted personality who checks out all the boxes on her resume, including modeling and brand ambassador.
For the past four years, she has been a global ambassador for YSL Beauty and the face of Libre, which is entering its fifth generation. Having been the face of Libre since its first launch in 2019, Lipa enjoys the “collaborative” and “supportive” nature of the partnership. Travel is also a nice bonus. “With every new campaign comes new shoots that take us to extraordinary places, and we had the most incredible time on those shoots,” she tells ELLE.com.
Known for being at the forefront of new trends (hello, blueberry nails!), travel remains a major source of her inspiration. “There is nothing better than watching people in a big city like London, Paris or New York. I love the energy of cities like this – they’re an endless source of style inspiration,” she says. “I love getting to know everything from people to new restaurants and museums, and really immersing myself in another culture.”
Her love of travel aligns with Libre Abslou Platine, the newest version of Libre. Defining freedom in fragrance form, notes include the alluring sensuality of orange blossom from Morocco, the freshness of lavender from France and the elusiveness of white lavender from Provence, all combined to create a warm, floral scent. The most subtle of the five fragrances, every note in the formula has been deconstructed and then reconstructed to reveal the full spirit of the fragrance. The trail of Libre Abslou Platine follows you like a spotlight on a stage. The fragrance draws inspiration from two countries that served as personal inspiration for Yves Saint Laurent himself.
Below, Lipa shares her travel skincare routine, the inspiration for her campaign hairstyle, and essentially what freedom means to her.
Platine is for those looking for a bold, fresh scent. I think it’s better to ask who No I gave it too!
I finished my world tour at the end of last year, so during this quieter time I went with a fresh face whenever possible. It’s always nice to give your skin a rest.
I wouldn’t say there is one beauty trend, but what inspires me most about Kosovar women is their confidence.
SPF is a no-brainer whether you’re going somewhere sunny or not. When I travel, I always find that my skin needs a little extra TLC, so I keep a lot of deeply hydrating products on hand. I love a super hydrating lip mask during and after a long flight, a face mist works great for the same reason, and I always pack a sheet mask or two in my carry-on. Lastly, a great waterproof mascara is a must when you’re on vacation.
I love experimenting with new hairstyles and beautiful looks, and luckily my YSL team is always willing to do the same!
I’ve always seen reading as a way to gain a deeper understanding of human connections and relationships, and the escapism that reading provides actually serves as a form of well-being. When my schedule gets hectic, I know that if I can pick up a book, I can find a sense of calm for a while.
Freedom to me is the power to take on new challenges and be open to new experiences while staying true to who you are at your core.
