Ed Sheeran got married in downtown Las Vegas two hours before his concert at Allegiant Stadium was canceled.
At 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sheeran entered the small white wedding chapel with an acoustic guitar and backup singers for the wedding of Jordan and Carter Lindenfeld. The couple is from Austin, Texas. Carter is a chiropractor and Jordan develops software.
Sheeran gave the newlyweds and eight guests tickets to Saturday night’s concert. Even during the event, Sheeran himself expected that night’s performance to be canceled.
“He was kind enough to give us tickets after he crashed the wedding,” Carter Lindenfeld said in a phone chat Monday. “I was going to put us on the guest list.”
The couple said they were contacted by Whitechapel representatives two weeks ago asking if they could accept an unspecified celebrity to attend their Las Vegas wedding as a “PR stunt.”
Initially, the Lindenfelds didn’t want such a person at their wedding, but they believed he deserved it.
He didn’t let them down.
“We were shocked,” Carter said. “Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that Ed Sheeran, of all people, would walk into that room.”
The group continues to plan a dinner at the Eiffel Tower and plans to attend a concert. They learned via email that the show was canceled. They have been invited to return for the October 28 concert and may return as part of an extended honeymoon.
During the wedding, Sheeran performed an unplugged version of his song “Magical.” Sheeran posted a video of the event on his Instagram page. This is the first time the song has appeared on social media.
Sheeran also signed the marriage certificate as a “witness,” although the document was reportedly ceremonial.
Little White Church owner Cliff Evarts said Sheeran contacted the church on Friday with the idea of disrupting the royal ceremony. He brought a security guard to the Lindenfield home to serve. The Rev. Diana Moran officiated.
The Evarts purchased A Little White Chapel in November 2022 from previous owner Charolette Richards. Richards has run the business since 1961. At the time of the sale, she estimated that in 1301, the church had hosted over 1 million weddings. Las Vegas Strip South.
The church is world-famous for hosting celebrity weddings. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were married in July 2022 at A Little White Chapel.
