Great news for Ed Sheeran fans: only four months left until Subtract, the singer-songwriter will release a new album, Autumn variationswill be released September 29. The official announcement appeared some time ago on his Instagram profile.
“Last fall, I found so many changes in my life and in the lives of my friends,” began Ed Sheeran. “After the summer heat, everything calmed down, stabilized, collapsed, reached a tipping point or exploded.. When I went through a difficult period at the beginning of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was happening. And when I found out about the different situations of my friends, I wrote songs, some from their point of view, some from mine, to convey how they and I saw the world at the time. Between disappointment, depression, loneliness and confusion, there were ups and downs of falling in love and new friendships, ”she continues.
“My father and brother told me about a composer named Elgar who wrote Puzzle options, where each of the 14 songs was about each of his friends. That’s what inspired me to create this album. When I signed up Subtract we contacted Aaron Dessner immediately. We wrote and recorded songs non-stop, and from that collaboration, this album was born.
