BOSTON — In this video, John W. Ward, M.D., Two presentations from the Liver Conference were discussed with Healio, which highlighted ways to overcome health disparities among patients with HCV infection.

The first presentation focused on HCV screening and treatment efforts for homeless veterans in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think this is a great example of how to deliver hepatitis C testing and treatment programs to a population that many people think is hard to reach and may not receive treatment, but that’s not the case,” said Ward, Global Hepatitis Elimination Alliance and Emory University professors said.

Another presentation on testing and treatment delivery options for people who inject drugs detailed strategies to “improve the cascade of care from testing, linkage to care, access to treatment and successful treatment outcomes to achieving cure,” Ward said.
