Elena & Francesco Faggi: “Nothin’ can blow me out is a song that has always had a particular meaning for us”

“Nothin’ can blow me out” is a song about those who firmly believe in their dreams and is determined to make them come true, knowing that step by step will find a way to touch the sky. Nothing and no one will make him give up, because he is like “a flame in the snow” and nothing can put him out.

Once inside the music it is impossible not to dance and, also thanks to its catchy sound, this song was a finalist in the selection of Una Voce per San Marino in 2022 for the last edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The lyrics were written by Francesco and Elena, while the music, arrangement and production were handled by Francesco.

We interviewed ELENA & FRANCESCO FAGGI for you

How did you get into the world of music?

When we were little, our parents took us to music lessons (Francesco piano and I violin). By studying musicals, we deepened singing and also acting and dancing. Later we started writing songs. Francesco, in particular, also started making arrangements/productions and graduated in jazz piano. Our musical project and artistic path has always moved on two tracks, as solo artists and in duo (in a sort of “special feature”).

Who are the singers who have most influenced your artistic career?

Surely the artists we listen to from an early age have influenced our way of writing and composing, for example Queen and Michael Jackson, but also Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake. Otherwise, we are very passionate about Pop/R&B music.

How difficult is it to emerge in music today?

It is evident that it is a lot, because most of the time we emerging artists are left to chance, we don’t really know which is the right direction to take. Many will say “eh but nowadays there are social networks that give you visibility, they didn’t exist once”… yes and no. Social networks give the illusion of being able to reach many people, and sometimes it happens, but it’s really rare for an artist to simply emerge from there, without a little help from “behind the scenes”. Plus nowadays you can’t make money directly from music anymore, unlike some people who still think that artists live off Spotify streams or YouTube views. In fact, we hope that one day the craft of art will have the right economic recognition as it deserves and as it was long ago, because all this is a great limit for the ambitions of many deserving artists who are forced to change jobs because otherwise they will not reach the end month.

Your single together is out. What are the topics covered and what prompted you to choose this title?

“Nothin’ can blow me out” is a song about those who firmly believe in their dreams and are determined to make them come true, knowing that step by step they will “find a way to touch the sky”. We chose this title precisely because when you truly believe in achieving your goals, you feel like “a flame in the snow and nothing can put it out”.

How autobiographical is there in the song?

This song really talks about all those who, like us, fight for their dreams and reminds us, especially in the most difficult moments, that we must never give up.

What will be your next recording steps?

Definitely releasing lots of new music, both in Italian and English, and playing live.
