Elon Musk auctions off Twitter memorabilia, logo included

(ANSA) — WASHINGTON, AUGUST 10 — Elon Musk has decided to auction memorabilia from Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, including the iconic bird logo, which the new owner has replaced with an “X.” A total of 584 lots will be up for auction, including a table shaped like the old symbol, giant birdcages, and two images that have gone viral on the platform in recent years. The first is the famous selfie taken by Ellen DeGeneres with Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep and Lupita Nyong’o on the night of the 2014 Oscars, which was retweeted over a million times in an hour. The second is a snapshot that Barack Obama posted after being re-elected president in 2012, hugging his wife Michelle. This image also holds a record of likes and retweets. As for the logo still attached to the Twitter building in San Francisco, the auction announcement says the new owner is responsible for removing it. The minimum bid for each lot is $25. The auction will start on September 12 and end on September 14. This is the second millionaire memorabilia sale on Twitter, with more than 600 items sold at auction earlier this year, including a $100,000 bird statue and a 10-foot-tall neon sign. (PEN).
