Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive trailer from Capsule Generation, a new sci-fi film written and directed by Sophie Barth. Bart’s third film takes place in a world where technology has taken over nature and artificial intelligence is everywhere. A New York City couple, Rachel and Alvy, are looking to have a baby, and as a technology executive, Rachel has a rare opportunity. Rachel gets a place at the Uterus Center, which empowers couples to experience pregnancy together as equals.
This is possible through the use of an artificial womb called a pod, but Alvy, a botanist and nature purist, is hesitant. However, his love for Rachel prevails and he accepts. And so begins a strange journey to parenthood, filled with technology at every turn. Pod Generation premiered at the Sundance Festival earlier this year, but it will be shown more widely in theaters starting August 11.

In a Screen Rant-exclusive clip from Capsule Generation, Rachel, played by Emilia Clarke, calls Alvy, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, to check on the nursery. Although Alvy doesn’t seem as enthusiastic as Rachel would like, he only comments on the color. An artificial intelligence system like Siri or Alexa tells her it looks cool. Elvie adds personality to the room with a small olive branch from her greenhouse.
Rachel isn’t thrilled about having a piece of nature in the house, which suggests a holographic version, but Alvy is adamant. This clip immediately shows some of the differences between the couple: Rachel prefers the clean, almost sterile world that technology offers, while Alvy feels more connected to nature. This will likely affect every aspect of their lives, especially as they build their technology-based family. Capsule Generation epitomizes the battle between technology and nature, which is not only a common conflict in science fiction, but is becoming more and more relevant today.
