A project called “The Vitaliks” was launched, consisting of a collection of 6,969 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the face of Vitalik Buterin, the renowned co-founder of the Ethereum network, the second largest cryptocurrency in the world today. The NFTs will be listed on the OpenSea marketplace, the world’s largest non-fungible token marketplace, each priced at 0.069 ETH, the equivalent of approximately $ 213.
An NFT is a type of digital cryptoasset that is based on a smart contract. These NFTs represent something unique, be it a photo, a video, a sound, and so on. And thanks to the smart contract, it is possible to know mainly if it is original, and secondly, to whom it really belongs, in this way, they cannot be stolen or falsified in any way.
Vitalik Buterin is a Russian-Canadian writer and programmer, who has been involved in the Bitcoin community since 2011, co-founding and writing articles for Bitcoin magazine. But he is mainly known as “the boy genius” behind Ethereum or also as the “father of Ether”, the second largest and most recognized cryptocurrency platform in the world after Bitcoin. Ethereum currently has a total market value of $ 350 billion. Vitalik is only 27 years old.
Buterin launched Ethereum in 2015. Ethereum’s co-founder, known as the mastermind behind Ethereum, was recently named one of TIMES’s Most Influential People in 2021. “What makes Vitalik so special, though, is that he’s a builder,” wrote the co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, for Time. “No one could have come up with all the uses for Ethereum, but it took one person’s idea to get started.”
Although the NFTs of The Vitaliks project are based on the same face, each one has different characteristics. They will be “exclusive and individually rare”, and what most caught the attention of investors, is that finally Ethereum co-founder will be “immortalized” through an NFT on the network that he created some years ago. This is detailed by the developers of the non-fungible tokens, through their website.
They also detail that the project will not only have the launch of Vitalik’s collection of non-fungible tokens, but also the idea of creating a “metaverse”, that is, a digital world totally dedicated to the co-founder of the second largest cryptocurrency.
In its “roadmap”, where the objectives are detailed, the project also promises the launch of its own marketplace, a governance token and its own decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). They will also do massive airdrops, that is, they will give away tokens, and they will also run raffles every time the team reaches a new goal.
The team behind The Vitaliks project said in a statement: “The focus of this collection is to pay tribute to the creativity and community building success that Vitalik has brought to the ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, the non-fungible token industry continues to grow, and the world’s most influential people continue to join the wave. The Argentine star Lionel messi, the basketball player Luis Scola, and even the candidate for deputy Javier Milei have released their own non-fungible tokens for sale. This market has grown so much this year that it is becoming one of the largest. It is so much so, that in the last 24 hours, the non-fungible token markets generated more than 4 billion dollars in sales.
