European Commission updates entries for poultry and game

he Official Journal of the European Union (DOUE) reports that UK and US Separate new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (GAAP) have been reported in poultry in Kent County, UK, and New York State.

The European Commission has evaluated this information and decided to suspend the entry of poultry, poultry germ products and fresh meat from poultry and game birds from these areas in order to protect the animal health situation in the EU.

On the other hand, Brussels again authorized the entry of these products from Canadian provinces. British Columbia, the Chilean metropolitan area, and the U.S. states of Michigan, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The health situation was considered overcome by the European Commission following messages from these countries after outbreaks of bird flu between March and June led to the suspension of poultry imports.

Within the framework of the European Union, the European Community established Dutch province of Flevoland establishes new bird flu protection and surveillance areasafter the state notified the region of an outbreak of the disease.
