Expats: the first shots of the new series with Nicole Kidman

Prime Video presents the first footage of The Expats mini-series directed by Lulu Wang and starring Nicole Kidman.

Prime Video unveiled the first images today emigrants, a six-episode limited series based on the international bestseller The Expatriates, written by Janice Y.K. Lee. Directed by Lulu Wang, the series stars Academy Award-winning and multiple Emmy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, Cancellation), Sarayu Blue (Never Have I, Hands Off Our daughters”), Ji Yong Yoo (“Maiden Power”). , “Smoking Tigers”), Brian Tee (“Chicago Med”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and Jack Huston (Gucci House, Fargo). The penultimate episode of The Expats will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8.

The Expats is set in busy and hectic 2014 Hong Kong. The focus is on three American women: Margaret (Nicole Kidman), Hilary (Sarayu Blue), and Mercy (Yoo Ji Young), whose lives are tangled up after a sudden, familiar tragedy. The series questions privilege and explores what happens when the line between victim and guilt blurs. The cast is completed by Brian Tee as Clark (Margaret’s husband) and Jack Huston as David (Hilary’s wife).

Lulu Wang is the creator, director and writer of The Expats. He is also an executive producer along with Daniele Melia for Local Time. Nicole Kidman is an executive producer with Per Saari for Blossom Films (Rabbit Hole, Nine Perfect Strangers) and with Alice Bell (Beautiful Lies, Slap), who was also the first writer on the show. Teresa Park of Per Capita Productions (“After Young, Bones and Everything”) and Stan Wlodkowski (“The Old Guard”) are executive producers. Vera Miao (Two Sentence Horror Stories), Gursimran Sandhu (Game of Thrones), and author Janice Y.K. Lee co-wrote the screenplay for The Expats with Bell and Wang.
