Fabian Freytag created this Parisian-style open kitchen for the famous Phoenix apartment building in Charlottenburg, Berlin, in a show flat.
Fabian Freitag has created a 130-square-meter apartment in the west of the German capital, in which, in particular, the open kitchen captivates with an unusual choice of colors and materials, as well as a combination of old and new, thus transporting visitors to Berlin in the 1920s from the moment they appeared.
Fabian Freitag divided the open kitchen island into two zones of different heights so that it can be used both standing and sitting.
What makes this open kitchen special?
In the center of Berlin, just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of the famous Kudamm, this open kitchen is the centerpiece of a spectacular apartment, Fabian Freitag he designed and built with his team. The approximately 130-square-meter apartment is designed to give potential tenants an idea of what life could be like in Phoenix, a nearly 100-year-old but recently restored iconic building on Ludwigkirchplatz. Berlin designer, who, by the way, 100 AD – managed to create a perfect symbiosis between charm of the twenties and modern elegance, thanks to the skillful combination of colors such as dark walnut and green sage. In the large living and dining room, noble Carrara marble covering not only the worktop but also the entire back wall and the unusual ceiling design give the room a romantic, playful and somewhat “French” feel.
On the rounded island, thanks to the division in the middle, you can not only cook while standing, but also sit comfortably. Therefore, it is not surprising that upon entering the kitchen, the space immediately attracts not only families, but also single people and couples. In this kitchen there is a place for breakfast with loved ones, as well as for an exquisite business dinner.

When Fabian Freytag presented his ceiling design idea, the clients were initially skeptical, “but the effect of turning an ordinary ceiling into a beautiful dome was convincing.”

Colors and materials: furniture and facades in walnut and partly painted in Ball green Farrow and Ball; countertops, mudguard and wall coverings are in white Carrara marble.

White marble adorns the entire back wall of the kitchen cabinet, turning it into an impressive sculpture thanks to its embossed structure.
Basic geometric shapes are also present in the black bench and various other furniture and ceramics.
