Fast X: Jason Momoa will be the best villain of the franchise?

Fast X star, Michelle Rodriguezrecently praised the villain role of Jason Momoa, Dante Reyesin the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster, calling him the best male villain of the saga.

The actor made this statement while promoting Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on the Collider Ladies Night podcast. “Revenge with a smile. It seems light, but when you see (the movie), you’ll know exactly what I’m talking aboutRodriquez teased what fans can expect from Momoa’s Dante.

“I’d say he’s the best male villain we’ve had in the entire franchise, obviously because Charlize (Theron) is amazing (as Cipher). Do you understand what I mean? He’s another kind of monster, that’s not a pun.”

While details about Momoa’s character were initially kept under wraps, the first trailer for Fast X revealed that the actor will play the son of Fast Five villain Hernan Reyes. The upcoming sequel will see Dante seek revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family over the death of his father in the 2011 action film. Momoa previously described Dante as “sadistic and androgynous” in August 2022. He also admitted that his character “definitely has issues with the father”.

Fast X brings back Cipher

Momoa won’t be the only villain Dom will face. Theron will also return as Cipher, a criminal mastermind and cyberterrorist who has crossed paths with the team multiple times since her introduction in The Fate of the Furious (2017). It’s currently unknown how Cipher will factor into the film’s plot, although a fight scene between her and Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz was teased in the Fast X trailer.

In addition to Rodriquez, Diesel and Theron, the Fast X cast includes Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as Tej Parker, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Sung Kang as Han Lue, Scott Eastwood as Eric Reisner/Little Nobody, John Cena as Jakob Toretto, Helen Mirren as “Queenie” Shaw and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, plus Michael Rooker as Buddy and Cardi B as Leysa.

The actors who will join Momoa to make their franchise debut in the upcoming sequel are Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) as Tess, a rogue representative of the Agency, Alan Ritchson (Reacher) as Aimes, the new head of the ‘ Agency, Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as a Brazilian street racer with ties to Dom’s past and Rita Moreno (West Side Story) as Dom, Jakob and Mia’s Abuelita Toretto.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X will hit theaters May 19, 2023.
