“This season, we wanted to focus on fluidity and couture techniques,” says Kim Jones, artistic director of Fendi Couture and Womenswear.
“We started with Delfina’s finest jewelry, which inspired the color palette of the costumes and decorations.
The costumes themselves are based on the idea of jewellery. The colors come from the color of the flesh as well as the stones: black diamonds, rubies, sapphires. Soft and hard, flesh and stone have an interrelationship.”
On stage, garments that are light, shiny, fluid and easy to wear. There are drapes on the catwalk, of which British designers excel, sculptural shapes achieved through cutting, often made with a single seam, silk as a second skin, one-piece sweaters, furs tailored in neoprene and chevron feathers shear.
Delphina Delettrez Fendi’s high jewelery combines precision and emotion. In his collection there are extraordinary white and yellow diamonds, sapphires and green, orange and pink Padparadscha spinels.
The collection of pink spinels featuring the “underum” set took forty years to reunite and will never again be repeated in nature. Even the techniques of embroidery combine the worlds of sewing and jewellery.
Dresses are sprinkled with embellishments such as jewels or covered with layers of intricate sequins and stacked tonal stones. It took 1200 hours of manual work to get the rosy glow of the final output.
