Eighth issue Ferrara Film Festival revealed all the new products of this year and record numbers: 40 events, 8 days of events, about 20,000 expected visits, 32 competition films from more than 2,500 applications from 42 countries, 21 previews – of which 4 world, 3 European and 13 Italian – and a red carpet stall similar to the one that will accompany guests to the entrance of the Teatro Nuovo, the most important in the city, which will become the nerve center of the Festival together with the beautiful Piazza Trento and Trieste, the main center of the event, where an animated film village will be created.
New to this edition is Studios Lounge Live, which literally “opens” the festival to the public. It will be an “interactive” space with large windows, therefore fully visible, in the magnificent Piazza Trento and Trieste in front of the Theater.
Every day there will be live interviews and photo calls with the main guests of the day. The public outside, in addition to attending live chats with the main characters of the Festival, will be able to actively participate by asking questions and being curious, as well as through the official social networks of the event.
The eighth edition of the Ferrara Film Festival features 32 films, of which 21 previews, of which 4 world, 3 European and 13 Italian, are distributed in 4 categories: Premiere Event and Premiere Autore (which combine feature and short films), Premiere Docu and Premiere Indie Emilia -Romagna. To these are added non-competition films related to the themes of Unicef, as an official partner of the festival, included in the Unicef Premiere and Retro Premieres categories, screenings as part of the program of special retrospectives.
Twelve awards will be presented, as well as the Golden Dragon for achievements in acting, presented by Giancarlo Giannini at the premiere on September 16 (the event is presented by Manuela Arcuri).
During the Golden Dragon Award ceremony on September 23, the following prizes will be awarded among all participating films: “Best Feature Film” and “Best Short Film Premiere”, “Best Feature Film” and “Best Short Film Premiere”, “ Best Documentary for a Feature Film Premiere”, “Best Documentary”. Indie Emilia Romagna Film Premiere, Best Feature Film Director and Best Short Film Director, Best Feature Film Actor and Best Short Film Actor, Best Feature Film Actress and Best Short Film Actress.
They will be judged by four juries: the main jury, which includes feature films and documentaries, as well as the UNICEF, WESHORT and FEDIC juries, which allocate the UNICEF categories and all short film categories respectively.
Grand Jury is another prestigious card in the deck of this festival edition. Chaired by Daniele Taddei, administrator of the Stabilimenti Cinematografici Studios, it includes some of the most famous names in the world of cinema.
Together with Taddei, actors Martina Stella and Francesco Montanari, famous faces of cinema and television, and Luca Ribuoli, director of some of the most successful Italian series and films, such as “The Mafia Only Kills in Summer,” will work on the awards. prizes.”, “I Was Hoping to Die Early” and “Call My Agent”, filmed at the studio of Tonino Zera, a historical set designer who recently won the Nastri d’Argento Award for “The Shadow of Caravaggio” Michele Placido, who also received an award for “The Incredible History of the Island” Rose” and the David di Donatello Award for “Pazza Gioia” by Paolo Virzi.
