Former Bucks County lawmaker named to Pennsylvania Biotech Wall of Fame

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Hepatitis B Foundation, the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute and the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC) are honoring former Congressman and former BIO CEO Jim Greenwood by His portrait was added to the Public Service Wall of Fame.

BIO (Biotechnology Innovation Organization) is “the world’s largest advocacy association, representing member companies, national biotechnology groups, academic and research institutions, and related organizations in the United States and more than 30 countries.”

Greenwood is currently senior policy counsel at DLA Piper and chair of the Life Sciences Policy Advisory Group.

Greenwood served as a member of Pennsylvania’s 143rd District House of Representatives from 1981 to 1986 and as a member of Pennsylvania’s 10th District Senate from 1987 to 1993.

In 1992, he was elected to Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 8th District, a seat he held until resigning in 2005 to join BIO.

Greenwood joins the list of influential elected officials on the PABC Public Service Wall of Fame. Among them was former Bucks County state Sen. Joe Conte, who attended the event and expressed his admiration for Greenwood. Others include local state Sen. Steve Santarsiero, former Rep. Marguerite Quinn and former governors Ed Rendell and Tom Waugh Tom Wolf.

Fireside chat participants along with Greenwood included Amicus Therapeutics Executive Chairman John F. Crowley, J.D., MBA, and Spark Therapeutics CEO Ron Philip. The chat was moderated by Randall N. Hyer, MD, PhD, MPH, president of the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute (which operates PABC) and CEO of Merlin Biotech.
