Four youth titles to watch on HBO Max if you liked “Euphoria”

euphoria, starring the Emmy winner Zendaya, returned with more teen drama, with doses of love, violence, drugs and sex. The series launched in 2019 via HBO and it became one of the most viewed, for this last reason the signal decided to go ahead with a second season that began airing on January 9. To alleviate that weekly wait between episodes, there are other series and movies of the youth genre that you can also enjoy on the streaming platform.

Genera+ion

Zelda Barnz and her father, screenwriter Daniel Barnz, created this youth comedy-drama that ranks as the closest television representation of the generation Z. The plot focuses on a group of high school students exploring sexuality, while dealing with family problems or resisting falling into the clutches of love in such frivolous times of social networks and applications for casual sex. The first season premiered in two parts in 2021, and months later, it was announced that it would not continue as it was not renewed. justice smith, Chloe East, Martha Plimpton, Uly Schlesinger, Haley Sanchez, Nava Mau, Nathanya Alexander, Lukita Maxwell, Chase Sui Wonders and Sydney Mae Diaz make up the main cast.

Betty

American filmmaker Crystal Moselle was based on her own film Skate Kitchen (2018) to create a youth comedy television series that portrays the female skater community in New York, which seeks to stand out among the predominant male majority in this sport. It is worth noting that, outside of fiction, actresses Rachelle Vinberg, Dede Lovelace, Moonbear, Nina Moran and Ajani Russell they really make skateboarding part of their daily life. Two seasons were released in total.

unpregnant

This road movie follows a pregnant teenager, Veronica (Haley Lu Richardson), who goes on a road trip with her friend, Bailey (barbie ferrera, also known by euphoria), en route to Albuquerque upon discovering that in her home state she cannot have an abortion without her parents’ approval. Also starring are Giancarlo Esposito, Breckin Meyer, Alex MacNicoll, Sugar Lyn Beard and Betty Who. It was released as an original title for hbo max in September 2020.

The sex life of college girls

Although it may seem like a classic American comedy, this production created by Mindy Kalling and Justin Noble reflects how four 18-year-olds’ lives are thrown into flux and hormonal explosion as they begin their first year of college. Each one of them has an origin behind them that differentiates them, but also unites them when they are forced to solve problems and provide support. It is starring Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp and Alyah Chanelle Scott. After its release at the end of last year, it was confirmed that it will have a second installment of episodes.
