The agriculture ministry announced on Wednesday that the alert was changing from “mild” to “moderate,” meaning poultry in risk areas will be covered, among other measures.
According to the decree published in the Official Gazette, the decision to increase the risk level was taken “based on evidence of infection dynamics in migratory wild birds from neighboring countries”.
The first outbreak of this autumn was detected on Monday at a turkey farm in the Morbihan department (west), “not far” from the area where contaminated seagulls were found.

France has required ducks on more than 250 farms to be vaccinated against bird flu since October 1 in an effort to control the virus, which has forced France to slaughter 32 million poultry since mid-2021.
