Pope Francis canceled Monday’s planned audience “as a precaution” because he has been suffering from a “mild” flu since Saturday, the Vatican reported.
“Mild flu symptoms persist and there is no fever. This morning’s hearing remains suspended as a precaution,” a statement from the Holy See Press Office said.

Vatican sources later added that as part of precautionary measures, the public audience the pope will host on Wednesday will be held in the Paul VI Hall inside the Vatican, rather than in the open space of St. Peter’s Square.
