“It transforms or develops… After Denmark, I aspire to other planets! In recent months, I have been busy imagining how passengers can kill time at the airport and also on the moon. After the Art Party and Artbulanza, the latest artistic evolution was the Flying Theatre, a unique format in the world, launched as part of a two-year pilot project at Billund Airport (Denmark). Since February last year, we have created a theatre-studio. The goal of our team of actors, singers and dancers is to interact like an airline with passengers from all over the world and surprise them with unique and unforgettable artistic experiences: performances and opera at boarding gates, in terminals and at baggage claim; events such as theatrical or dance performances in hangars. “Ridley Scott gave me his master’s hand when, seeing me as an eccentric lawyer, he started ruffling my hair, which I should have done every time I was on set before filming.
For the first time, I didn’t recognize Kevin Spacey instead, who, transformed by makeup, had already been on the set for several minutes.
At the end of the shoot (before the reshoots with Christopher Plummer) we were in that famous elevator in London’s Savoy Hotel (Red Elevator) all huddled with Ridley Scott who asked us, “So where are we?” are you going?” I answered without hesitation: “To the stars…” There was one next to me: Mark Wahlberg, sitting in a chair, after a pleasant complicity on the set. And another star, Michelle Williams, was only a few meters away from us. Then, continuing to count the stars… Timothy Hutton finished filming with us the day before (his “silence” was unforgettable).

I could almost say that it was a masterclass in working with such a person. a meticulous director like Mann, who cares about every detail: the pose, the intensity of the gesture, or the way the object is captured in a non-obvious way. It’s great that Michael Mann managed to make this movie after almost twenty years. In my directing work, I will certainly appreciate this lesson. I was comfortable working with the actors (mainly Adam Driver), even during rehearsals, despite the fact that I was in front of one of the most sought-after artists in the international star system. The fact that Michael Mann then decided to put me next to Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz to read the script along with the actors certainly helped break the ice before filming even started.“.
