Meanwhile, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” could win in the main categories: best film (for which it is given 1.05), best direction of The Daniels (pseudonym of Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, not even 70 years old), best actress Michelle Yeoh who could beat the immense Cate Blanchett of “Tar”, thus becoming the first Asian to establish herself as a protagonist. But the 60-year-old star of “Everything Everywhere” risked losing the nomination: she had in fact posted an article which stressed that for two decades only white actresses have won, an indirect boycott of Blanchett. Post deleted, disqualification foiled.
Colin Farrell vs. Brendan Fraser
As for the male protagonists, the excellent anti-hero Colin Farrell of “The Spirits of the Island” and the revelation Austin Butler “Elvis” seem destined to succumb in front of Brendan Fraser who weighs 150 kilos in “The Whale” thanks to the prosthetic make-up: the Academy jurors are sensitive to physical transformations especially since the very dramatic film by Darren Aronofsky talks about obesity, a deeply felt topic in America.

Among the artists who will perform at the ceremony stands out Rihanna, whose show at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles comes exactly one month after his electrifying performance at the Super Bowl. Rihanna will sing “Lift me up” (from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), nominated for Best Original Song. However, the most accredited Oscar candidate in this category is “Naatu Naatu”, soundtrack of the Indian film “RRR”, which will be performed at the ceremony by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. But since hope dies last, fans are convinced that she can give a surprise performance. Finally, Lenny Kravitz will perform during the “In Memoriam” section, which pays homage to cinema characters who died in the last year.
