The action takes place in Versailles, at the court of Louis XV (Johnny Depp), the film follows the rise of a young woman, Jeanne Dubarry (Maiwenn, also director of the opera), who becomes the favorite of the sovereign of France. The film represents Johnny Depp’s first major production and first major public event after a long legal dispute with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
