Gabe Vincent talks the difference between playing with Lakers and LeBron James vs. Heat

One of the biggest additions to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason was the signing of point guard Gabe Vincent. The fifth-year player made a name for himself with the Miami Heat and is an ideal fit next to the Lakers’ superstar tandem of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Vincent performed well in last year’s playoffs and is known for his defense and shooting ability. Although he was a starter for the Heat that reached the NBA Finals last season, he is still a bit of a stranger to many fans. But things have changed since he joined the Lakers.

Vincent spoke with Ira Windman of the Sun-Sentinel and admitted the attention he received playing for the Lakers, let alone being teammates with LeBron James, was on a whole different level :

“It’s very different,” Vincent said. “No matter where you are with the Lakers, that name carries a lot of weight. And then there’s the LeBron effect, you can’t talk about that team without talking about him that way. That brings a lot of attention. It’s a lot of eyesore. “I wouldn’t say it’s better or worse, it’s different. “

Playing for the Lakers is unlike being a member of any other team in the NBA. The collection is always front and center, turning heads at all times. The Lakers have always been at the forefront of nationally televised games and have been the focus of media debate.

Add in the extra attention brought by LeBron himself, and anyone wearing a Lakers jersey will shine. That level of attention may be too much for some players who aren’t used to the Lakers’ fans and spotlight.

Luckily, Vincent seems to understand what comes with donning the purple and gold and is ready to contribute and help this team achieve its goal of winning another NBA championship.

Lakers announce Gabe Vincent will be reevaluated in two weeks with knee injury

Unfortunately, Vincent is currently unable to do anything on the court for the Lakers as he is dealing with knee issues. The Lakers announced that Vincent will be re-evaluated in two weeks due to fluid accumulation in his left knee.

It’s not ideal timing as multiple other rotation players are also currently sidelined, but the Lakers always prioritize the health of their players and will take the time to get Vincent fully healthy so he can help the team.
