Gal Gadot opens up about filming ‘Cleopatra’

Three years have passed since the announcement of the new film on Cleopatra starring Gal Gadotbut there are still few updates on the project, and production seems to be stuck at the script stage, also due to a recent strike that is delaying the deadline.

Speaking to Flount, Gadot has now explained why it takes a lot of time: despite the strike, the actress is determined that the ambitious project can see the light, but the team is in no hurry to write a script that respects a historical figure Cleopatra.

“This is an important job” said the actress amazing woman. “I don’t want to rush processing. This is something that commands a lot of respect, because this is Cleopatra. We had some great writers working on the script both before and after the strike, including Laeta Kalogridis. The script is beautiful. But we’re taking our time as there are many responsibilities at stake when working with such an incredible, iconic and legendary woman.”

Gal Gadot also reiterated, as she did last month, her intention to bring the unpublished Cleopatra to the big screen, telling the story of a woman and a queen. from a modern point of view.

“All people know about Cleopatra from the movies is that she was a seductive woman and that she had affairs with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. But when you delve into her life and the empire she ruled, you realize that she was an extraordinary woman. There are so many things that were never told about herand I want to celebrate just that.”

Gadot, of Israeli descent, has not been without criticism for choosing to play an Egyptian ruler: controversies that echo those of the now-infamous Netflix series have long been criticized for casting the role of Cleopatra to a black actress .
