George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” cartoon will be shot

The 1968 cult zombie horror film “Night of the Living Dead” directed by George Romero will receive another reimagining. According to THR, Warner Bros. launched the feature film Night of the Animated Dead. He will reimagine the genre’s ancestor in the form of a cartoon.

The director of another successful horror cartoon “Until Your Last Death”, Jason Exin, was entrusted with directing the film. He also directed the animated series Starokalypse and worked extensively on short films.

Josh Duhamel, Dewley Hill, Catherine Isabelle, James Rodey, Katie Sackhoff, Will Sasso, Jimmy Simpson, and Nancy Travis were recruited to voice the characters in the project. How closely the animation will follow the plot of the original film about a group of people trapped on a farm surrounded by the undead is unknown. But the cartoon poster copies the style of Romero’s creation quite accurately.

The cartoon is expected to be available this September. Night of the Animated Dead will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital.
